Personal injury is a legal term for an injury to the body, mind or emotions, as opposed to an injury to property. The term is most commonly used to refer to a type of tort lawsuit in which the person bringing the suit, or “plaintiff,” has suffered harm to his or her body or mind.

This personal injury case, brought on behalf of a catastrophically injured minor was filed against a landowner-defendant who owned property, upon which a 11-year-old plaintiff was riding a motorbike and was catastrophically injured for negligent supervision. This case was recently settled in 2019 for millions of dollars.
Dermer v. Sixt Rent-A-Car
This case was recently settled in 2020 for a substantial sum for severe emotional damages and PTSD suffered by plaintiff against a rental car agency who rented a vehicle it previously reported as stolen to law enforcement and failed to release the vehicle after recovery. As a result, plaintiff was stopped for a felony by law enforcement officers at gunpoint and detained for over an hour.
